* - These barrel sizes are specific to American Oak Barrel™ manufacturing specifications. Other manufacturers may use different size holes.  The only way to be sure is to measure your barrel's spigot hole to insure a proper fit.

Bungs

New bungs will appear to be larger than the hole when first inserted.  This is done intentionally to insure an airtight seal.  When inserting a new bung, twist while pushing it into the hole to avoid damaging the foam strapping.  Once inserted, the foam strapping will quickly mold to the exact size of the hole and will become easier to remove and re-insert.

Spigots

New spigots should be inserted and firmly twisted into position.  If necessary, you may use a rubber mallet to gently hammer it in until snug.  Be careful not to hammer it too hard as damage can be caused to the barrel head and/or spigot.  Damaged caused by not following these simple instructions is NOT covered in your limited warranty.  The spigot only needs to be snug as it will swell into the hole once it becomes hydrated from the inside.

Storing Tablets

When storing or cleaning your barrel between uses, dissolve the appropriate quantity of tablets in water.  Pour mixture in the barrel and fill completely with additional water.  Store in cool damp conditions if possible.  Rinse 3x prior to use.

Storing tablets are NOT required during the initial curing of new barrels unless you are using well water which in not recommended.
